2020 was going to be the first year I could teach in my brand new Yoga Fitness studio here in the Pyrenees. After buying a building wreck and seeing it slowly transform into a magical space to move in, I couldn't wait to share the experience with my clients here in Luchon. All my classes were growing and I was enjoying teaching different age groups and ability levels. Then the Corona Virus lock down hit France and life as we knew it was put on hold. I had always shied away from teaching online classes. Firstly it was finding the time to learn new technology and secondly I really love teaching in the moment and didn't think teaching online would be as effective as teaching face to face. After talking to some of my clients I started to realise just how important human contact is to so many people. I realise there's alot of great exercise videos on line, but my clients wanted direction, communication and personal support. They told me they wanted to be guided through the different exercises to make sure they were performing them correctly. The weekly yoga, pilates and fitness classes have been giving my clients both a physical and mental lift, helping them gain in strength, improve their balance and making them feel vibrant and healthy. It didn't feel right telling my clients that I could no longer teach them until further notice. So I took the plunge into online teaching. I discovered Zoom and the rest is history, but also the future. Zoom is really straight forward and for those who feel overwhelmed by learning new technology (like I was) I make time to talk them through it. I'm loving teaching online and being able to work with clients all over the world, including my local clients here in Luchon. I still miss teaching in my studio, but I love the fact that I can make connection with my clients abroad and help them continue to work towards their health and fitness inspired goals.
